1st Bato Cup Rapid Chess Team Tournament : IQZENTIAL / Letran Knights in upset win!
A total of 54 team shows up at the start of the 1st Bato Cup Rapid Chess Team Tournament held April 22,2017 at the Multi Purpose Hall of Camp Crame , Quezon City. The 1st round action saw the Iqzential / Letran Knights the youngest team in the tournament with an average age of sixteen years old upset the 11th rank Team El DI "4". Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar (2204) defeated John Michael Magpily (2069) at board 2. Melito Ocsan Jr and Mrk Daluz won against their much older opponents Ricardo Jimenez (2049) and Gary Garcia (2128) at board 3 and board respectively.
