Hou Yifan is the new World Women's Chess Champion!!
Ruan Lufei resign after 79 moves of a Caro-Kan defense in the final tie break game and hand the World Women's title to Hou Yifan.Hou Yifan has three pawns and a knight against Ruan two pawns and a knight but Ruan's knight was trap in the corner and an exchange means another pawn for Hou for an easy win. The final scores for the four rapid tie break games was 3-1 with Hou winning the 2nd and 4th game.The 1st and 3rd game ended in a draw. The classical games ended in a 2 all draw after Ruan won excellently the 4th game in 47 moves of a Sicilian Defense.The new World Women's champion receives US$ 60,000(a payment of 2O % of the prize shall be made to FIDE).Lufei Ruan receives the runner-up prize of US% 30,000.

2010 National Inter-Cities Round 3 : Provincial teams shares lead, GM LAYLO talo!!
Three provincial teams, Calamba City of Laguna; Roxas,Palawan and Samal Bataan streaked to their third straight victories to share the lead after three rounds of the 2010 National Inter-Cities &Municipalities Rapid Chess Team Tournament. IM Chito Garma handled GM Darwin Laylo his first loss as Roxas,Palawan edged LWUA "A" 2.5:1.5. IM Emmanuel Senador scored his 3rd straight points courtesy of Leodegario Ricana to lead Calamba,Laguna a close 2.5:1.5 victory against Ozamis City while IM Ronald Bancod led Samal,Bataan upset Binalonan,Pangasinan 3.5:0.5. GM Wesley So also scored his 3rd straight points as Makati blanked Palayan City 4:0. Four teams led by Manila City -FEU;Manila -CSB and Manila-Apocalypse are tied for 4th to 7th places with Makati City.Host Dagupan City "A" handled Quezon City "LWUA" Boys team its third loss in as many matches as Board 1 Natavio Bonifacio defeated Jerad Docena and Eduardo Suarez beat Luke Mathew De Leon.Bd 2 Fidel Fernandez Jr halved the point with Giovanni Mejia.

All seeded team from 21 matches hurdled their 1st round assignment at the start of the 2010 National Inter-Cities & Municipalities Rapid Chess Team Tournament held in People's Auditorium,Dagupan City,Philippines.Makati City led by GM Wesley So won against Bacolod City 3:1; Muntinlupa City with GM John Paul Gomez whipped Bauang,La Union 3.5:0.5; Manila-FEU with coach GM Jayson Gonzales playing Board 1 crushed Alaminos,Pangasinan 3.5:0.5while GM Darwin Laylo led his team Quezon City-LWUA to a 3.5:0.5 victory against host Dagupan City. Paranaque won against Quezon City-Ateneo team "A" 3:1 with AlcoN John Datu winning his game against NM David Elorta for Ateneo's only point.

Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar , NCR'S ,top bet for 2nd consecutive Palarong Pambansa title fails to make it to the 2011 Palarong NCR Regional Meet set in Febuary 2011.The five times Palarong NCR medalist and 2010 Palarong Pambansa gold medalist suffered back to back loses in Round 3 and 4. Timothy So Kua,4th year high school student of Adamson University toppled the top seed Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar in 80 moves of a Benoni defense in round 3. San Sebastian College top bet Paulo Cristobal won against Kenneth in a marathon 105 moves of a Budapest defense in round 4.

Women's World Chess Championship 2010: Lufei Ruan vs Yifan Hou in final
The finalist Lufei Ruan and Yifan Hou will play four Classical games from December 20-23,2010 at Hatay Turkey. The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves + 30 minutes to finish the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move. In event of draw a tie breaker will be held on Friday,December 24,2010. These will be a Rapid game tiebreaker, followed by a blitz playoff in event of a draw and finally Armageddon blitz game.Beginning 2011 the Women's World Chess Championship will be held annually.

ROBERT CACHO vs MELWYN KENNETH BALTAZAR @ 2009 National Open Chess
The 2009 National Open Chess Championship was held in Victory Central Mall,Caloocan City from July2-9,2009. GM John Paul Gomez emerged winner ahead of GM Darwin Laylo and GM Rogelio Antonio Jr.The tournament saw the participation of 11 years old Melwyn Kenneth Baltazar in his first high level of competition. In the eight round he faced Robert Cacho, veteran of many national tournament. Melwyn Kenneth used only 50 minutes on this miniature. Kenneth found an interesting combination with a hidden sacrifice of the rook not only once but twice. Cacho tried to complicate the game but to no avail.
