Worlds Top Juniors: Fabiano,Giri and So makes NEW YEAR giant leap in January 2011 FIDE ratings

With Carlsen,Karjakin,Nepomniachtchi,Vachier-Lagrave and Adreikin graduating from the junior ranks, Fabiano Caruana of Italy makes a giant leap and now topped the World Junior list with 2721,gaining 12 rating points. Anish Giri of Netherland is in second place with his 2686,gaining 4 rating points, now closer to 2700 barrier.Wesley So of the Philippines gained 4 points to take 3rd place,the highest ever by a Filipino player. So gained 9 points from the 2010 Asian Games elimination but lost 4 points in the semi and the final of the Asian Games.So also lost 1 rating point from the SPICE Cup in USA. Vietnam's Le Quang Liem in his worst performance lost 25 rating points in one tournament,the 2010 Asian Games Team elimination scoring only 0.5/5 games; losing to Wang Yue of China,Rustam Kasmdzhanov,Shukaraliev and Kashgaleyev and a draw against Ehsan Ghaem Maghami of Iran.

Age does'nt matter,Azmaiparashvili rules 2010 ASEAN OPEN!

GM Zurab Azmaiparahvili clinch the title by the slimmest of margins over IM Oliver Barbosa of the Philippines.Azmaiparashvili and Barbosa both finished with 4 wins and 5 draws to bag the top prize in the nine-round Swiss System tournament.IM Barbosa defeated FM Timothy Chan Wei Xuan in the final round.GM Susanto Megaranto of Indonesia was solo third with 6.0 points. GM John Paul Gomez another Olympic campaigner from the Philippines finished in a tie for 4th to 9th place with 5.5 points. Also in the same scores were IM Nguyen Van Huy,IM Richard Bitoon,GM Cao Sang; GM Dao Thien Hai, and FM Nguyen Duc Hoa. FM Timothy Chan Wei Xuan had 5.0 points to emerges as the highest placed Singaporeans in the tournaments which attracted a total of 32 players. Philippines sent the most number of entries with 11 players, 3 more than the host Singapore and Indonesia.Nelson Mariano III and Kim Steven Yap also scores 5.0 points.

Vietnam rules Open U-17 and Open U-14 titles; India clinch Girls U-11 crown!!

FM's Nguyen Van Hai and Le Tuanh Minh of Vietnam and Tejaswini Sagar of India widens their lead to 1.5 points in the Open U-17,Open U-14 and Girls U-11 respectively to takes the title with one round remaining at the 2010 Singapore International Youth Chess Festival. Nguyen Van Hai tally 7.5 out of 8 games while Le Tuanh Minh dominate his division with a perfect 8 out of 8 performance. Tejaswini Sagar grab the Girls U-11 title, scoring 7.5/8 1.5 points ahead of Zhansaya Abdumalik of Kazakhstan,Az-Zahra Azhar Puteri Munnajah of Malaysia and Huang Minh Thu of Vietnam with one round remaining.

Malaysians grab solo lead in Girls-U14 and Open-Under 8 at Singapore Int'l Youth Chess

WCM Nur Nabila Azman Hisham of Malaysia is the solo leader in the Girls U14 division after 8 rounds of the 2010 Singapore International Youth Chess Festival.Azman Hisham won five games and 3 draws for 6.5 points one half point ahead of WFM Dao Thi Lan Anh (Vietnam) and 1 point clear of Janelle Frayna of Far Eastern University (Phil).In the Open U-8 division,Malaysian Wong Yim Long is solo leader with 7.5 points,one point ahead of Cyrus Low Zhen Yu(Singapore).Nguyen Huynh Minh Thien of Vietnam and Chua Alfred Xue Kai are in 3rd and 4th place,both with 6.0 points.A total of 55 players from 9 countries are entered in the Open U-8 division.

Natavio Bonifacio of host Dagupan City, GM Wesley So of Makati and FM Jony Habla of Pasig-Dep-Ed finished with the same scores of 8 out of 9 games for an 88 9% performances.WFM Cheradee Camacho of Quezon City-Ateneo Blue Eagles scores 5.5/9 to finished 12th on Board 1. Another Pasig-Dep-Ed bet Rainier Labay won the Board 2 top honors scoring 6.5/8 for 81.3%,Rodolfo Panopio Jr(Calamba"A") and Ryan Dungca

Singapore International Youth Championship Round 5 : Le Tuan Minh in solo lead!

Top seed FM Le Tuan Minh of Vietnam won his games against two Filipinos in round 4 and 5 to take the solo lead in the Open-under 14 of the 2010 Singapore International Youth Championship held in Stansfield Residence 1,Mt Vernon Rd.,Singapore.Le won against Jerad Docena and Paul Robert Evangelista both students from FEU. Another Filipino Vince Angelo Medina also of FEU was held to a draw by unrated Roid Attakaatsur of Indonesia,both had 4.5 points for joint 2nd place.Le Tuan Minh and Vince Angelo Medina were paired to play in the crucial 6th round today while Attakaatsur battles Evangelista.Jerad Docena's back to back loses against Le and compatriot Medina pulls him down to 10th place in the standings with 3 points.A total of 44 players from 9 countries participated with the winner going home with S$1,500.In the Girls-Under 14,Nur Nabila Azman Hisham of Malaysia toppled top seed Jannele Frayna of the Philippines to take the solo lead after 5 rounds with 4.5 points.Three players Frayna,WFM Dao Thi Lan Anh of Vietnam and Yuan Wei Ting of Singapore are tied for 2nd-4th place all with 4 points.

Manila-CSB : 2010 National Inter-Cities and Municipalities Rapid Chess Team champion

Manila,composed of College of Saint Benilde and DLSU players rules the 2010 National Inter-Cities and Municipalities Rapid Chess Team Championship held in People's Auditorium,Dagupan City,Philippines.Led by Nm Rolando Andador,the 1995 Asian Junior bronze medalist and Joel Pimentel,2006 ASEAN Under 14 age-group champion.Manila won seven games with two draws and no loss to finished two match points ahead of favorite Makati led by Gm Wesley So and Paranaque City who come from behind to finished third.A total of 43 teams participated in the events sponsored by the city goverment of Dagupan City under the auspices of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.
