Armenia,wins 2010 World Youth Chess Olympiad! No Philippine team
Armenia up by 4 points before the start of the final round and needing only 0.5 points drew with Turkey -White to win the 2010 World Youth Chess Olympiad. Armenia defeated defending champion Russia in the 2nd round and 2009 champion India in the 5th round both by 3:1 scores. India won the silver medals while the bronze medals went to Russia.India edges Russia in a tie-break 231.5-231 after both team finished with 27.5 points.The Philippines fails to send a team for the second straight year. Philippines finished 3rd in the 2008 World Youth Chess Olympiad held in Mersin,Turkey,where GM Wesley So was the Board 1 Gold medalist with 8 wins and 2 draws.The team is composed of GM Wesley So, FM Haridas Pascua, Alcon John Datu and Jan Emmanuel Garcia.
