Defending champion Le Quang Liem of Vietnam toppled top seed Gata Kamsky of USA in 27 moves of a Semi-Slav. Kamsky did not see or take for granted the
simple Bishop sacrifice by Le on the 16th move for two pawns, and after nine more moves regains the sacrifice piece with a two pawn advantage for the victory.It was Le's 4th straight victory. GM's Evgeny Tomashevsky and Mikhail Kobalia are one-half point behind with 3.5 points.Tomashevsky defeated Anton Shomoev in 36 moves of an Old Indian Defense while Kobalia won against Alexander Riazantsev in a marathon Caro- Kann defense 'Panov Botvinik attack.And Wesley So, he was held to a draw this time by Zhou Weiqi of China in 43 moves of a Classical Caro-Kann defense. So is now languishing in the cellar at 55th- 74th place with 1.5 points , with only five rounds remaining.
In the Group "B" action Alexei Gavrilov defeated Alexei Iljushin to maintain his solo lead after 4 rounds.Philippine's John Paul Gomez and Darwin Laylo won their respective games against Pogos Nakhapetiane and Evgeni Kalegin to move into a five way tie for 2nd-6th place with GM Wen Yang and Zhao Xue both from China and GM Tigran Kotanjian. IM Oliver Dimakiling shares 18th -39th place with 2.5 points. IM Richard Bitoon is in 40th- 70th place with 2.0 points while Oliver Barbosa is in 71st -88th place with only 1.5 points. In Group "C' Paulo Bersmina of the Philippines shares 21st -45 th place with 2.5 points after 4 rounds.
