2nd Pichay Cup International Open Chess: Bitoon stuns Paragua shares lead with 3 other;Mega upset Megaranto loss to WFM Zhai Mo

The 2nd Chairman Prospero A. Pichay Jr Cup Inernational Open Chess Championship is taking place at the Travellers Hotel in Subic Freeport,Olongapo City, Philippines. A total of 86 players from 7 countries are competing, including 13 GM's, 1WGM,
10 IM's ; 9 FM's and 5 WFM's. Merab Gagunashvili of Georgia is the top seed. The 10 round Swiss System competition offers a guaranteed prize of US$30,000.00. The champion gets US$6,000.00 , the runner-up gets US$4,000.00 and US$3,000.00 to third place.Cash prizes will also be given to 4th place  up to 24th place.

IM Richard Bitoon defeated GM Mark Paragua while untitled Wang Chen upset GM Lu Shilong to share the lead with GM's John Paul Gomez and Darwin Laylo after three rounds of the 2nd Pichay Cup International Open Chess Championship. Top seed Merab Gagunashvili of Georgia was held to a draw by Ma Qun of China to share 5th - 15th place with 2.5 points. Meanwhile 2011 3.3Asian Zonal champion GMSusanto Megaranto loss in a mega upset  to WFM Zhai Mo of China in the 1st round.
