Congratulations!! F.G.Calderon HS Chess Team Champion Again.....and again
The F.G. Calderon High School Boys and Girls team won both the 2016 Manila Division of City School District II Boys and Girls Division Chess Meet. The Calderonian Boys team scores 19.5 points out of a possible 20 points to erase the old record of 19 points by the 2013 F.G Calderon High School Boys team . The Boys team also sweep all the individual gold medal at stakes. Grade 8 student Audrick Policarpio successfully defends his title to repeat as Board 1 champion. Grade 10 students Rough Cruz and Anderssen Dimalanta also repeat their golden performance last year as both won the Board 2 and Board 3 Individual undefeated. Board 4 Aron Eugene Seguero , score a perfect 5 out of 5 points for a 100 % performance to complete the sweep.
In the Girls High School division F. G. Calderon also retains the over all team title 2 .5 points ahead of Sergio Osmena High School who placed second.Calderon's top board player Zillla Mae Yanguas lost in upset against Ryuki Baquilala of Sergio Osmena on Board 1.Yanguas was already one piece up when she miss the back rank mate set up by Baquilala. Grade seven J February Fojas playing Board 3 for F.G. Calderon won the Board 3 individual title by a tie break . .Board 2 title escape from the hand of the Calderonian as Hazel Mitch Maniaol fell 1 point short of Mikaela Baquilala of Sergio Osmena High School.Maniaol won against Baquilala in the final round held at the library of the F.Torres High School . Overall F.G.Calderon won 5 out of 7 individual title at stake and both the Boys and Girls team title. F.G.Calderon High School Trely Ann Baltazar will coach the Boys team in the next level , the Division Meet .
