Malabon Chess Association defeated the Varsity Selection Team 4.5 : 1.5 in the last round to captures the 2013 Philippine Blitz Chess Association held December 22,2013 at the Plaza Hulong Duhat ,Malabon City.
The Varsity Youth Selection Team (20.0 points) team enjoys a one point lead over the MCA (19.0 points) before the start of the final round. Ernie Baltazar playing Bd 3 score the first point of the match by beating Rey Dimacili to tie the score at 20 points a piece. Board 1 Irvin Ortega won against Remark Bartolome of Colegio de San Juan , and suddenly MCA leads by one point. Arturo Del Rosario playing on board 4 increase MCA lead to points by winning against 18 year old Harris de Guia. The Varsity came close to the point once again at 22 : 21 when Philip Octaviano of Polytechnic University of the Philippine defeated Armando Miranda on Board 2. The deciding game come from Jethro Serrano on Board 5 when he beat Varsity's top scorer Edwin Abarca , who earlier scores five straight victories. The last game to finished between Charlie Tan and Ric Arellano end in a draw for the final scores.
The Super Veteran Chess Team led by NM Marlon Ricafort finished third place. National Master Marlon Ricafort and Domingo Dejero as a consolation got the gold in Board 1 and Board 3 respectively , same with Philip Octaviano of the Varsity Youth Team as Board 2 champion. Gold medalist from the champion MCA team were Arturo del Rosario on Board 4 and Charlie Tan on Board 6
