The expected gold the Team Philippines would get in the ASEAN Rapid Team Event came to a stop as Thailand snatched the gold medal in the 4th  tie break using the Sonneborn-Berger System .The Philippine is
leading the standings before the final round. GM Eugene Torre of the Philippines lost to Dede of Indonesia in the final. A draw would give Philippines its first gold.
