2011 Dapitan City Palarong Pambansa Chess FINAL STANDINGS: Gold for STCAA Elem Girls team!! Ilocos Region leads High School Girls , Southern Tagalog High School Boys takes lead, blanks IRAA . Central Visayas upset National Capital Region
Updates !! Southern Tagalog chess teams won the overall chess championship in the 2011 Palarong Pambansa. Southern Tagalog won the gold medals in the High School Boys and the Elementary Girls Division to denied the National Capital Region a six straight over all chess title.
2011 Asian Youth Chess Champioship: Subic Freeport,Olongapo City , Philippines
The 2011 Asian Youth Chess Championship organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation start May 15,2011 at the Subic Exhibition and Convention Center at Subic Freeport,Olongapo City , Philippines. The championship will be played in six categories for players under 8 , 10 , 12 , 14 , 16 , 18 years old in the Open and Girls competition.
The championship will be played in 7 or 9 Rounds Swiss System defending on the number of participants in each categories ( 7 rounds for 16 or few players and 9 rounds for more than 16 players). Medals will be awarded to the top 5 players in each categories with the champions of all categories shall be awarded the title of FIDE Master (Women FM).The Under 18 and under 16 champions shall also receive an IM (WIM) norm equivalent to 9 games. A total of more than 260 players from 18 Asians countries confirm their participation with India sending the largest entries with 44 players and Vietnam with 31 players. Host Philippines with 24 players are expected to field more entries before the start of the championship.

2011 FIDE Candidates Matches: Grischuk , Kramnik won in tie breaker makes it to the semi -final
Vladimir Kramnik defeated Teimour Radjabov 2 : 0 in the second set of the five minutes Blitz tie breaker to advance in the semi-final round of the FIDE Candidate Matches . The first set of the Blitz tie breaker ended in a 1 : 1 all draw with both player winning with the White pieces.

2011 Asian Individual Open Chess Championship Round 7 : Yu Yangyi maintains lead ; So ,Paragua closes in ,Top 4 finish still within reach.
Yu Yangyi's second straight draw,this time against Krishnan Sasikiran was enough to maintain his hold of the lead after seven rounds of the Asian Individual Open Chess Championship. Philippines top bet Wesley So and Mark Paragua beat their respective opponents to up their score to 4.5
