Blitz Game between Computers and Human Players

Blitz chess usually narrows the difference in playing strength between computer programs and superior human player. This is because chess played at high speeds tends to be much more tactical in nature than serious tournament games, and computers play better tactically (relative to human) than they do strategically. For one thing, human players are to more likely than computer programs to overlook shallows combinations or even leave pieces en prise.
The rules for Blitz games between computer program and humans usually give the human player 5 minutes for all of his moves while the program is costrained to play at 3 seconds per move.
