2013 Manila District Meet : Show of force by the F.G. Calderon High School chessers!!

The F.G. Calderon High School Boys and Girls team won both the 2013 Manila Division of City School District II Boys and Girls Division Chess Meet. The Calderonian Boys team scores 19 points out of a possible 20 points to win by 8.5 points over second placer F.Torres High School. They also sweep all the individual gold medal at stakes. Anatoly Pascua cop the Board 1 title over defending champion and Palarong Maynila finalist Eliseo Budoso of J. P. Laurel High School. Budoso finished 1st runner-up. Joshua Mamangon edge three-times district champion Ricardo Balsalubre Jr of Sergio Osmena High School in a tie break for the Board 2 gold. Board 3 Brixter Kim Duenas and Board 4 Bobby Asuncion  , both with a perfect score 5 out of 5 points for a 100 %  performance to complete the sweep.

     In the Girls High School division F. G. Calderon also sweep all their assignment to win the title , four points ahead of second place Florentino Torres High School.  Lakandula High School finished 3rd over all. Calderon's top board player  Zairah Bingabing , Board 3 Oldiel Pascua and Board 4 Pamela Jean Antaran ,  all scores a perfect 5 out of 5 points to win the individual board . Only the board 2 title escape from the hand of the Calderonians as grade seven students Ann Nicole Hernandez of F.Torres High School upset defending board 2 district champion Shiela Mae Gonzales . Gonzales finished second. Overall F.G.Calderon won 7 out of 8 individual title at stake and both the Boys and Girls team title.
