7th International Chess Festival Moscow Open 2011: 34 players shares lead after Round 3
Opening ceremony of the 7th International Chess Festival Moscow Open was held Saturday in the ball room of the Russian State Social University (RSCU). The festival held from January 27-February 7,2011 see a new extended format with nine seperate tournaments. The new concept brings empahasis on promotion of students and school sports.

The Philippines sent GM John Paul Gomez and IM Oliver Barbosa to participate in the Open Tournament.
The first victory of the Moscow Open 2011 belongs to GM Alexander Rakhamov,a student of the Russian State Social University. The Russian beat Ivan Cheperinov of Bulgaria in 41 moves of a Slav Defense.
Thirty four (34) players shares lead after 3 rounds of the Moscow 2011 Open Tournament. A total of 570 participants are entered in the tournament. Philippines John Paul Gomez are with the leaders with 3 points, he will face GM Yu Yangyi of China in the 4th round. IM Oliver Barbosa with 2.5 points faced FM Grigoriy Morozov seed no.126 in the 4th round.
