2012 Tournament Calendar for Chess

WORLD YOUTH UNDER-16 CHESS OLYMPIAD
28 August - 06 September 2012 Istanbul, Türkiye (Turkey) 

1. TOURNAMENT: 

The Turkish Chess Federation (TCF) will organise the above-mentioned event in Istanbul,  Turkey from 28 August(Arrival) to 06 September (Departure) 2012. The Olympiad will be  conducted under the auspices of Fédération Internationale Des Échecs (FIDE). World Youth Under 16 Chess Olympiad shall be realized in the same time and same place with 40th Chess Olympiad (Yesilköy, Istanbul-CNR hall 11).

2.  PARTICIPATION: 

The Turkish Chess Federation has the pleasure of inviting your Chess Federation to participate in the World Youth Under-16 Olympiad under the terms are stated below.

1. All chess players who shall not have reached the age of 16 on January 1st of the year in which the Competition is held are eligible to participate(birth date 1996 and after).
2. Each FIDE member federation shall have the right to send one team.
3. FIDE member federations have the right to send additional teams to U16 Olympiad; however, Organizers can not guarantee enough lodging reservations for the additional teams because of accommodation intensity during the 40th Chess Olympiad in Istanbul. Please keep contact with Tournament Director about available accommodation conditions.
4. Each team shall comprise 4 players and 1 reserve and 1 captain (or Manager, Trainer).
5. FIDE entry fee is 100€ for each team and should be paid before the first round.
6. The participating Federations should make their applications via the “registration form” to Tournament Director until 15 August 2012. (please check article 10)
7. The applications sent after the application deadline shall be charged by 100€ compensation. However, Organisers have a right  to refuse late entries.

Asian Nations Cup Open and Women's Team



The Chinese Chess Association, on behalf of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE, invites Federations in Zones 3.1 to 3.7 to participate in the 2012 Asian Nations Cup (Open and Women's Chess Team Championships) to be held from 15 to 27 May 2012 in Zao Zhuang Shandong Province, China.  



Gibraltar Junior International 2012
The Gibraltar Junior International 2012 will take place from Friday 17 August to Monday 20 August 2012. Competitors will arrive on 16 August and depart on 21 August (five nights’ stay). The event will be run under the auspices of the English Chess Federation.

The prize fund total is £7,500.

There are main two categories: a) open to competitors aged under 16 on 1st January 2012 (i.e. born in 1996 or later); b) open to competitors aged under 12 on 1st January 2012 (i.e. born in 2000 or later).

The Gibraltar Junior International Chess Festival takes place in August each year. The venue is the Caleta Hotel




World Open in Philadelphia 



The 40th Annual World Open will be held from July 2-8 at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel, 17th & Race Streets, Philadelphia, PA. 





Brunei Campomanes Memorial Grandmaster Open 2012
The Brunei Chess Federation (BCF) is pleased to invite chess players from all federation to participate in the Brunei Campomanes Memorial Grandmaster Open 2012 from the 7th April 2012 (Arrival) to the 12th April 2012 (Departure).
2. Organising Committee
The organising committee for this tournament is the Brunei Chess Federation in collaboration with FIDE (World Chess Federation) and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Brunei Darussalam.
3. Playing Venue
The playing venue for the Brunei Campomanes Memorial Grandmaster Open 2012 shall be at the Orchid Garden Hotel, Jalan Berakas, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
4. Participation and Conditions
4.1) The entry fees of the event shall be as follows:
a) No registration fee for chess players with international titles GM, IM, WGM and WIM
b) For chess players with ELO rating 2400-2499 — 50 US dollars,
c) For chess players with ELO rating 2300-2399 — 75 US dollars,
d) For chess players with ELO rating 2200-2299 — 100 US dollars,
e) For chess players with a rating below 2200 and unrated players — 125 US dollars,
f) 50% discount are provided for veterans above 50 and students U16.
g) Entry fee for BCF members are 50 US dollars.
4.2) The deadline for registration is 24th March 2012. After this, a late registration penalty of 50% will be added. However, organizers reserve the right to refuse or decline late registrations.

2012 Batang Pinoy (Philippines)
 Iloilo City will host the Batang Pinoy National Finals on December 9 to 12, this will be preceded by the 5 regional qualifying legs starting with the Southern Luzon leg  in Mindoro from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, followed by  the NCR leg in Marikina from Oct. 14 to 17. Pampanga hosts  the Northern Luzon regional from Oct. 28 to 31 while Cagayan de Oro plays the role  for Mindanao from Nov. 11 to 14 , the final regional leg for the Visayas will be hosted by Cebu.


2012 PHILIPPINE NATIONAL GAMES  (Philippines)
It will be Dumaguete City's turn to host the the 2012 PNG from May 26 to June 3 .


PHILIPPINE PARA NATIONAL GAMES (Philippines)
Together with the Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled - National Paralympic Committe of the Philippines ( PHILSPADA-NPC-Phils. ), the PSC will present the Philippine Para National Games from Feb. 1 to 7 ,this  is a national competition for differently-abled athletes coming from the DepEd and LGU's and NGO's nation-wide, close to 700 athletes are expected to see action in this special event at the Marikina Sports Complex.


 FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship 2012 The “Chess Academy of Thessaloniki”, the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and the Greek Chess Federation have the honour of inviting all national chess federations and eligible players in the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship 2012 to be held in the 5-star Porto Carras Grand Resort in Halkidiki, Northern Greece from 16 April (1st round) to 22 April (9th round). 

8th World School Individual Chess Championship 2012  Iasi County Chess Association, Romanian Chess Federation, the City Hall of Iasi, FIDE and the International School Chess Union have the honor to invite all the FIDE Members Chess Federations and eligible players to take part in the World School Individual Chess Championship 2012 (open and girls, under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17 years old) organized in Iasi, Romania, from 27th April (Arrival) to 7th of May (Departure) 2012.
