1st ASEAN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 Under-8, Under-11, Under-14, Under-17 (Open & Girls)

The 1st ASEAN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012 Under-8, Under-11, Under-14, Under-17 (Open & Girls) organized by the organized by Singapore Chess Federation under the auspices of Singapore Sports Council  start August 7-12 ,2012 at the Nanyang Primary School, 52 King’s Road Singapore. The championship will be played in four categories for players under 8  , 11  , 14 ,  17   years old  in the Open and Girls competition.
The championship will be played in  9 Rounds Swiss System  in each categories (SCF reserves the right to merge categories which have less than 10 players) . The rate of play will be 40 moves in 2 hours followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, all without time increment. Zero-Start shall be applied. A total of  204 players (154 in the Open Category and 50 in the Girls Category) from 12  countries participated with host Singapore sending the largest entries with 116 players followed by China with 30 players. India sent 17 players with Malaysia 14 players.United States of America had 3 Only two  players;  Alleney Jia Doroy in the Girls 8-under category and Normel Benigno DeJesus in the Open -Under 17 represents the Philippines.
