IM Chan Peng Kong of Singapore won against Ernie Baltazar of the Philippines to finished with a remarkable score of 8.5 points in 9 games. Baltazar was threatening mate in three moves but instead of Qf6 + ,the Queen slips to f7 allowing Peng Kong to take the queen and the game. Still Baltazar took the bronze medal as he whipped NM Edmundo Legaspi in 40 moves of a pick up opening using the Sicilian Defense.
