2011 Poland ChessChampionship:Back to back title for Matheusz Bartel!


Defending champion GM Matheusz Bartel  finished with five victories, four draws and no loss to win  the 2011 Poland Chess Championship held February 12-20,2011 at the Hotel Novotel in Warsaw.Bartel finished one point ahead of Pawel Jaracz and top seed Radoslaw Wojtaszek both with 6.0 points.
Bartosz Socko who won against top seed Wojtaszek in the 6th round shares 4th to 8th place with 5.5 points.Also with the same scores were Dariusz Swiercz, Michal Olszenski; Robert Kempinski and Aleksander Mista.
Bartel drew his final game against Kempinski in a marathon Sicilian Dragon game lasting 98 moves. Bartel had two pawns and a Bishop against Kempinski lone Knight and a King. Top seed Radoslaw Wojtaszek demolished the Gruenfeld defense of Kacper Piorun winning in only 30 moves.The game between  Pawel Jaracz and Dariusz Swiercz ended in a draw after 53 moves of an English Opining , Four Knight variations.
